Education through Distant Learning Programs (DLP) is a kind of teaching that has been growing significantly in Brazil and in the world. With the objective of bringing a theoretical approach about DLP, this work makes an analysis and discussion about the conceptions of the students of the Biology Course of Jorge Amado College about DLP. It is known now that, most of the students are concerned about the validity of the DLP and if the market absorbs these professionals. Besides that, there is a worry about the learning level of the students that undertake DLP. Most of the students also think that it is not easy to study biology through DLP because to these students the training and the field classes would be endangered. Finally, eighteen students said that they wouldn’t undertake a DLP in biology. So, it is noticed that, although DLP is only an option as an educational purpose – and that it is growing in Brazil and in the world – the choice for the presencial education is still considered strong.
