Comportamento de forrageio da Xylocopa cearensis ducke 1910, em população de Comolia ovalifolia dc trina em um ambiente de restinga, Salvador-BA
Keywords:
flight pattern, pollination, Xylocopa cearensisAbstract
This article aims to describe the foraging behavior of a solitary species Xylocopa cearenses in a natural population of Comolia ovalifolia and to analyze the efficiency of these behaviors as effective pollinators. 20 foraging routes were followed and measured the angles and distances between visited plants. On the observation of flights pathst was noted that more than half of the steps (52%) was less than one meter and also was a common step from one to two meters in length (43%). Flights to distances exceeding three meters were uncommon (less than 10%). The angles formed between the steps of bees to fly from one plant to another was more frequent the angles of 180 ° (21%), followed by the angles of 90° (17%).
