Abstract

Hostile Architecture is an urban design method created to influence the behavior of people who pass through and stay in the city, removing invitation to stay and hospitality, transforming the space into an aggressive place into an aversion to the poor, is the main factor for this method to be experiencing exponential growth in recent decades in the main metropolises of the world. The fear of homeless people brings the understanding to the defenders of the architecture of exclusion that they are the main reason for violence in cities and that the only possible solution to this problem is the expulsion of this population, bringing a hygienist, elitist idea and which (due to the installation of hostile devices) also spills over into ableism, ageism, generation a movement of gentrification by leaving a feeling of not belonging in the city, segregating a place that is everyone’s right. The marginalization of minorities only brings more prejudice to the cause, making it difficult to try to reduce the number of people living on the streets, as one of the defenders of the cause, Father Júlio Lancellotti, who achieved a small advance with the approval of the law against the use of objects that restrict people’s right to come and go.
